Initial Eligibility Requirements To successfully apply for this change of status, the applicant must meet two critical requirements on the date of application: • Current Visa Status: The applicant must currently hold a Tourist Visa (TR) or Transit Visa (TS). Those who entered on a Visa Exemption (P.30) are also eligible to apply. • Remaining Stay: The applicant must have at least 25 days of permitted stay remaining. • Legal Status: The applicant must not be on overstay. Applications with an overstay record will be rejected. 2. The Two-Step Application Process The procedure to secure a 1-year stay is divided into two distinct stages: 1) Step 1: Change of Visa Status (90-Day Permission) o We will first submit the application (Form TM.86 or TM.87) to change your status from a tourist to a Non-Immigrant "O". o If approved, Immigration will grant an initial permission to stay for 90 days. 2) Step 2: Extension of Stay (1-Year Permission) o Within the 90-day period granted in Step 1, we will submit the application for a 1-year extension (Form TM.7). o This step requires the submission of mandatory financial proof. 3. Key Financial and Documentary Requirements Financial Proof (for Step 2: 1-Year Extension): This is the most crucial part of the 1-year extension. The applicant must provide: • Evidence of a minimum of 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account. • Bank statements (and a bank letter) showing this amount has been maintained in the account for at least 2 months prior to the date of filing the 1-year extension application. Primary Documents: Our team will assist you in preparing and compiling all necessary documents, which include: • From the Applicant: Passport , application forms (TM.86/87, TM.7) , and photos. • From the Thai Family Member: Thai ID Card , House Registration (Tabien Baan) , and the original Marriage Certificate (Kor.Ror. 3) or Child's Birth Certificate. Both the applicant and the Thai family member must be present at Immigration to file the application. 4. Critical Obligations After Approval Once the 1-year extension is granted, you must adhere to the following legal obligations to maintain your visa status: • 90-Day Reporting: You are required to report your current address to the Immigration Bureau every 90 days (Form TM.47). • Re-Entry Permit: Your 1-year extension is voided the moment you leave Thailand. Before traveling abroad, you must obtain a Re-Entry Permit to keep your visa valid upon your return. • No Working Allowed: This visa (Non-Immigrant "O") strictly prohibits all forms of employment. If you wish to work, you must first secure an employer and apply to change your visa to a Non-Immigrant "B" and obtain a valid Work Permit.
